The President's Message

Good afternoon members,

I wanted to take this time, to let everyone know that we have a new contract.

I also wanted to thank all of you who participated in the CBA contract discussions, furnished the board with information and statistics.

All of it was needed and utilized in our negotiations.

This was a challenging negotiations and given the circumstances, we are happy with some but obviously not all of the language.

Regarding article 16, we laid it out for you on the website; we received multiple calls and emails confirming that article 16 will prevent a CSO being made whole after suspension if the proposal was passed.

Two-thirds of you voted yes on the proposal, one-third of you vote no.

I understand each of us has our own unique and individual financial situation, and that each of you voted with both short and long-term considerations in mind.

That being said, remember add some money to your rainy-day fund in case you are removed from the contract by the USMS.
