Thomas Bresnick

Thomas has held the position of Assistant Principle Bass with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra in South Carolina for the past twenty-two years. Previous to his membership in the CSO Thomas had been a member of the Knoxville Symphony in Tennessee and the National Symphony of New York where he performed regularly at Carnegie Hall. Originally trained as a woodwind player Thomas attended the Manhattan School of Music in New York as a saxophone Major. After developing embouchure problems he decided to take up the bass and was soon freelancing around New York playing various types of music. Thomas has studied with many of the country’s leading doublebass players/teachers such as Ralph Jones, Principle Bass of the Atlanta Symphony, Jack Budrow, former Principle Bass of the North Carolina Symphony and Timothy Cobb, Principle Bass of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra among others. Other interests Thomas has are yoga, meditation, and biking.
