Asako Kremer, violinist, has performed frequently as a chamber and orchestral musician throughout the Southeast. Originally from Tokyo, Japan, she began her violin study at the age of 6. She received her Bachelor’s degree in violin performance from the Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo, and attended the Salzburg Music Festival, studying with Ruggiero Ricci. In 1998, Ms. Kremer received a Master’s degree in violin from the Mannes College of Music in New York, where she studied with Sally Thomas. She then attended the University of South Carolina as a full scholarship violin student in the Professional Studies program. She moved to Charleston in 1999, marrying CSO cellist Damian Kremer, and four years later became a permanent member of the CSO violin section. Ms. Kremer has also studied at the Meadowmount Summer School of Music, and has played in the Sun Valley Summer Orchestra in Idaho. She now spends much of her summers in Japan with her family, where she is a frequent recitalist together with her husband as the Kremer Duo. Besides playing in the Charleston Symphony, she teaches privately at her home where she also raises three young children.
